Andreas Lafis forged emotional connections. Vangelis Tzitzis sparked flights of fancy. Dysanatolia set off the dance. And 4 Greek bands rocked the beach.
The 1st Poros Arts Festival made history before fading into history. The island’s first-ever arts festival brought the island together as a volunteer-organised event, from planning to performance. It wasn’t just a celebration of the arts or the diversity and depth of artistic activity on the island, but highlighted cooperation among local organizers and businesses.
From live performances and film screenings to art exhibits, photography showcases, workshops, and crafts actions like yarn bombings, every event was organised by volunteers and financed with donations or material support from local businesses. Events were spread throughout Poros Town, offering visitors an opportunity to explore its neighbourhoods and learn different aspects of the island’s cultural history.
Plans are already underway for the 2nd Poros Arts Festival, which will now include dance and drama. Relive some of the moments captured by photographers Nikolas Pelekis, Nikos Hatziperos, Anna Kanatsidou, Yannis Drougas, Kyriakos Droudes, Babis Kanatsidis, and Kyriakos Paschalis.
And get ready for 2015!
